Student Personal Device Storage
The Rondout Valley Central School District Board of Education has adopted a Student Electronic and Personal Device Policy that aligns with New York State Education Law §2803. This law requires all schools to restrict the use of internet-enabled devices during the entire school day while on school grounds. These devices include smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, wireless earbuds, smart glasses, e-readers, and any other device capable of accessing the internet or social media.
Beginning on September 4, 2025, all students in Grades 9–12 will be required to store their personal devices, including cell phones, smartwatches, and Bluetooth earbuds in a Yondr pouch from the start of the school day (7:30 AM) until dismissal (2:22 PM). This "bell-to-bell" policy applies throughout the entire school day, including in classrooms, hallways, the cafeteria, bathrooms, and study halls.
The Yondr pouch is designed to allow students to keep their devices with them physically, while preventing access during the school day.
